The Historic Environment Record (HER), maintained by The Yorkshire Dales National Parks Authority, is a valuable resource documenting the cultural landscape of the Yorkshire Dales over thousands of years. YDNPA, with the support of the Heritage Lottery Fund, selected Firebrand to develop a fully interactive website to make this information available to the public.
An intuitive navigation system, intelligent information design and cross-linking of records within the database ensures that the site has usability at its core. A content management system allows YDNPA to update records when required. Firebrand's expertise in accessibility ensured that the site's compliance exceeded the highest standards in the industry.
The Out of Oblivion website leads its genre in terms of both design and usability providing visitors with a valuable educational tool to maximise their understanding of the region.
