K3 SOFTWARE
K3 is a global SaaS platform that develops enterprise software used by fashion, apparel and retail brands worldwide. While the business had built strong expertise across retail operations, product development and supply chain management, its portfolio had evolved through acquisitions and product expansion, creating a fragmented brand structure and an increasingly complex story.
At the same time, the fashion and retail sector was facing growing pressure to improve sustainability, transparency and accountability. K3 saw an opportunity to take a leadership position in helping retailers respond to these challenges, but its brand lacked the clarity and strategic framework needed to support that ambition.
We were engaged to develop a new brand strategy, architecture and identity that could unite the organisation around a clear purpose and provide a platform for future growth.
K3’s portfolio included a range of software products operating under different naming conventions and brand structures. Some products used descriptive names, others used more evocative branding, creating inconsistencies across the portfolio and making it difficult to communicate a coherent proposition.
More significantly, the business had ambitions that extended beyond software functionality alone. Through stakeholder workshops and strategic discovery sessions, it became clear that K3 wanted to play a wider role in shaping the future of fashion and retail by enabling more responsible, transparent and sustainable business practices.
The challenge was to create a strategic platform capable of:
- Unifying multiple products and services under a coherent master brand
- Clarifying K3’s position within the retail technology market
- Supporting future product development and acquisitions
- Establishing a credible sustainability narrative without appearing opportunistic
- Creating a visual identity system that could scale across a growing portfolio of products and services
The workshops revealed an opportunity for K3 to move beyond a traditional software positioning and establish a more ambitious role within the retail sector.
As retailers faced increasing pressure to improve transparency, accountability and sustainability, K3 recognised that technology could play a central role in helping brands respond. Rather than focusing solely on operational efficiency, the business wanted to champion a more responsible retail model built on trust, transparency, and informed decision-making.
This thinking led to the development of a new strategic platform centred around a simple purpose:
To transform retail for good.
Supported by a vision of:
A world of trusted retail with brands that thrive by doing the right thing.
To sharpen the company’s market position, we also developed an Onlyness Statement that captured what made K3 distinct:
K3 is the only Enterprise SaaS expert that unlocks front-to-back sustainable value for forward-thinking brands worldwide who want to build trust and transparency in an era of increasingly conscientious and ethical consumers.
This became the foundation for the wider positioning, messaging and future brand development.
To translate the strategy into practical terms, we developed four mission pillars to guide decision-making across the organisation.
Drive Sustainability
K3 wanted to help retailers move beyond sustainability as a compliance exercise and embed it within everyday business operations. This pillar focused on supporting customers with the tools, data and visibility needed to make more informed decisions throughout the supply chain, while helping the wider industry move towards greater accountability and transparency.
Create Transformative Products
The business had ambitious plans to evolve its software portfolio into a connected digital platform for fashion and retail brands. This pillar established a clear direction for future product development, placing sustainability, business intelligence and customer experience at the centre of innovation.
Nurture Brilliant People
K3 recognised that achieving its vision required more than technology alone. This pillar focused on attracting specialist talent, developing expertise across the organisation and creating a culture where people could grow, innovate and contribute to meaningful change within the industry.
Embody Business Excellence
Alongside its sustainability ambitions, K3 needed a commercial framework that would support long-term growth. This pillar focused on strengthening market leadership, expanding the SaaS business model and creating lasting value for customers, shareholders and stakeholders alike.
K3 had grown a portfolio of products developed and acquired at different times. While each product had established recognition with customers, the relationship between them was not always clear.
We worked with the leadership team to simplify the structure and define the K3 master brand’s role. The aim was not to remove established product names, but to create a clearer connection between them so the portfolio felt like part of a single business rather than a collection of separate solutions.
This created a stronger foundation for future growth while preserving the recognition already built within products such as Imagine, Fashion and Pebblestone.
We also developed a messaging hierarchy designed to align corporate, product and audience-specific communications, ensuring the organisation could speak with greater consistency across every touchpoint.
The visual identity was designed to reflect connection, integration and transformation.
At the centre of the system sits an interconnected symbol formed by overlapping loops, representing the relationships among retailers, brands, suppliers, consumers, and technology platforms. The mark also reinforces K3’s role as the connector between operational performance and responsible business practices.
A flexible colour system was created around a distinctive core palette, supported by secondary colours that could differentiate products while maintaining a clear family relationship.
The wider identity incorporated:
- A scalable product identity framework
- A comprehensive colour architecture
- New typography and layout systems
- Iconography and data visualisation styles
- Photography treatments
- Brand guidelines and implementation tools
Importantly, the design avoided relying on obvious sustainability clichés. Instead, it created a modern technology brand capable of evolving alongside K3’s long-term strategic ambitions.
The project provided K3 with far more than a new visual identity.
It established a strategic foundation that connected purpose, vision, culture, product development and communications around a single idea. It also gave the organisation a clear platform from which to lead conversations around sustainability, transparency and responsible retailing.
By aligning its brand architecture, messaging, and visual identity, K3 gained a clearer way to communicate its expertise, differentiate itself in a competitive ERP software market, and support future growth across its product and service portfolio.

United thinking through a programme of online workshops
With Firebrand as facilitators, the K3 leadership team was brought together from locations across Europe and North America for a series of brand strategy workshops. Our online workshop programme allowed effective use of participants’ time.

Defining a unique brand strategy and clear market position
Firebrand helped K3 define their purpose, vision, mission pillars, brand archetype and unique value proposition. With a fashion industry urgently needing to address sustainability, K3 responded and clearly defined its role: transforming retail for good.
